Tao Te Ching

By Victor H. Mair

Categories: Religion & Spirituality

The Tao Te Ching, traditionally attributed to Lao Tzu, is a short book of poetic sayings about the Way (Tao) and the integrity or virtue (Te) that comes from living in harmony with it. Victor H. Mair's 1990 translation is based on the Ma-wang-tui silk manuscripts found in a Chinese tomb. They are the oldest known complete versions of the text, and they put the Te section before the Tao section, reversing the usual order.
