Thank You, Jeeves (1934) was the first full-length Jeeves and Wooster novel. Bertie's banjolele playing so annoys his neighbors that he retreats to a cottage in the country, and Jeeves resigns rather than put up with it. Jeeves goes to work for Bertie's old friend Lord Chuffnell, and Bertie is soon caught up in the romance between Chuffy and Pauline Stoker, the daughter of an American millionaire, while her father's yacht lies offshore.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
