The Art Forger (2012) is B.A. Shapiro's novel about Claire Roth, a young Boston painter who makes a living copying other artists' canvases after a scandal stalled her career. Drawn into a shady deal involving a Degas linked to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum theft, she grapples with authenticity, ambition and the art world's underground while trying to reclaim a name of her own.
