The Blind Assassin (2000) by Margaret Atwood is a novel that weaves together several stories. In her eighties, Iris Chase Griffen sets down the history of her family, a wealthy Ontario button-making dynasty, and of her younger sister, Laura, who drove off a bridge in 1945. Woven through her memoir is a novel published under Laura's name, about two lovers who meet in secret, and the science fiction tale he tells her.
