The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order

By Samuel P. Huntington

Categories: Politics & Social Sciences

In this 1996 book, political scientist Samuel P. Huntington argues that after the Cold War, cultural and religious identities would become the main source of conflict in the world. Huntington divides the world into major civilizations, including Western, Islamic, Sinic, Hindu, Orthodox, Latin American and Japanese, and argues that the most dangerous conflicts would arise along the fault lines between them. He offered the thesis as a challenge to the view that liberal democracy had won for good. This edition includes a foreword by Zbigniew Brzezinski.
