The Evolution of God
Categories: History
The Evolution of God (2009) by Robert Wright is a history of religious belief. Wright traces the idea of God from the spirits of hunter-gatherer societies through ancient polytheism to the monotheism of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. He argues that the conception of God has changed in response to social, political and economic conditions, growing more tolerant and inclusive as societies became more interdependent.
