The Fifties
Categories: History
The Fifties is a 1993 history by David Halberstam, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of The Best and the Brightest. It was adapted into a History Channel documentary series. Halberstam surveys American life in the decade after World War II, from McCarthyism, the Korean War, and the Cold War to suburbs, television, rock and roll, and the civil rights movement. Through figures such as Eisenhower, Elvis Presley, and Rosa Parks, he shows how the era's changes shaped the 1960s.
