The Golden Passport
Categories: Business & Money
The Golden Passport (2017) is business journalist Duff McDonald's critical history of Harvard Business School and its influence on American capitalism. McDonald traces how an HBS degree became a ticket to the corner office, and argues that the school's teaching and culture helped normalize shareholder primacy, soaring executive pay and a narrow view of what business is for. Using archives and interviews, he follows the school from its founding ideal of managing decently through the rise of financial economics and consulting-firm recruiting.

- Andrew Ross Sorkin: “The book, “The Golden Passport,” by the veteran business journalist Duff McDonald, is a richly reported indictment of the school as a leading reason that corporate America is disdained by much of the country.”
