The Heart of a Goof (1926; U.S. title Divots) is P. G. Wodehouse's second book of golf stories, again told by the Oldest Member from his seat on the clubhouse terrace. Its nine stories follow golfers whose love lives depend on their game. In the title story, Ferdinand Dibble's timid, nervous golf matches his shyness with the woman he loves, and other stories take on rivalry, marriage and pride on the links.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
