The Joyous Cosmology: Adventures in the Chemistry of Consciousness
By Alan Watts
Categories: Religion & Spirituality
Alan Watts's 1962 book records his experiments with LSD, mescaline and psilocybin, taken, he insisted, not for kicks but in search of understanding. Watts describes how ordinary perception gave way to a sense of unity with the world, and he relates the experience to Zen, Taoism and other mystical traditions. This 2013 New World Library edition keeps the original foreword by Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert, adds an introduction by Daniel Pinchbeck and includes Watts's essay Psychedelics and Religious Experience.
