The Life You Can Save
By Peter Singer
Categories: Politics & Social Sciences
Philosopher Peter Singer argues that people in wealthy countries have a moral duty to do far more to end extreme poverty. Anyone who would ruin expensive shoes to save a child drowning in a pond, he asks, should also give to save children dying of poverty far away. In this 2009 book, Singer examines why people fail to give, answers common objections and proposes a scale of giving based on income, with case studies of charities.
