Ogden Ford, the spoiled, overfed heir to an American fortune, is the Little Nugget of P. G. Wodehouse's 1913 novel. His divorced parents and several professional crooks are all after him. Peter Burns, a rich young Englishman, takes a job as an assistant master at Sanstead House, the prep school where Ogden is hidden, meaning to carry him off for the woman he hopes to marry, and soon finds himself defending him instead.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
