The Man in the White Sharkskin Suit (2007) is journalist Lucette Lagnado's memoir of her Jewish family's life in Cairo and their exile to the United States. Lagnado portrays her father, Leon, an elegant businessman in Cairo's cosmopolitan society, and the family's decline after the rise of Gamal Abdel Nasser forced them to leave Egypt in the early 1960s. She follows their struggle to rebuild their lives in Paris and then Brooklyn.
