The Man with Two Left Feet (1917) collects thirteen P. G. Wodehouse stories from his early magazine years. Among them is "Extricating Young Gussie," the first story to feature Bertie Wooster and Jeeves, although Jeeves has only a small part. Others include "Bill the Bloodhound," about a hapless private detective, and the title story, in which Henry Mills, a quiet London bank clerk, secretly takes dancing lessons.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
