The Mind-Body Problem (1983) is the debut novel of Rebecca Goldstein, a philosopher and MacArthur Fellow. Renee Feuer, a philosophy graduate student at Princeton raised in an Orthodox Jewish family, marries Noam Himmel, a mathematician hailed as a genius. Uneasy in her role as a genius's wife and unsure of her own work, Renee looks for meaning in affairs and in her religious background. The novel combines comedy and romance with serious questions about the mind, the body, faith and marriage.
