The Number of the Beast (1980) is a Robert A. Heinlein novel. Two couples, a mathematician, his daughter and her new husband and his friend, use a car that can travel between parallel universes to escape alien attackers. They visit many worlds, including ones from fiction, and the story brings in characters from Heinlein's other books, including Lazarus Long.
