The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For?
By Rick Warren
Categories: Religion & Spirituality, Self-Help
The Purpose Driven Life (2002) by pastor Rick Warren, founder of Saddleback Church in California, is designed to be read as a 40-day spiritual journey, one short chapter a day. Opening with the line "It's not about you", Warren argues that meaning begins with God rather than personal ambition. He organises the book around five purposes for living: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and mission, and closes each chapter with a point to reflect on, a verse to remember and a question to consider.

- Jonathan Sacks, Baron Sacks: “It's a remarkable achievement. But it has one of the best opening sentences in any book I know, right up there with Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. And this is the opening sentence: "It's not about you."”
