In the second book of Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's series, Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Trillian and Marvin the Paranoid Android barely escape a Vogon attack before scattering across space and time. Zaphod sets out to learn who really runs the universe, while the others are flung from one absurd danger to the next, including a visit to Milliways, a restaurant built at the very end of time, where diners eat while watching the cosmos come to its end.
