The Sculptor (2015) is a graphic novel by Scott McCloud, the cartoonist best known for Understanding Comics. It follows David Smith, a struggling young sculptor in New York whose career has stalled and whose money has run out. David makes a deal with Death: the power to shape any material with his bare hands, in exchange for only 200 more days to live. Falling in love just as the countdown begins complicates his plan to make work that will outlast him.
