The Son of Man (2021) is a novel by French writer Jean-Baptiste Del Amo about a father, his wife and their son in an isolated mountain house. After years away, a man returns to his partner and their young son and takes them to Les Roches, a remote house in the mountains where he grew up. Cut off from the world, the boy watches his father's moods grow more unpredictable as the story examines violence passed from one generation of men to the next.
