The Will to Meaning: Foundations and Applications of Logotherapy
Categories: Health, Fitness & Dieting, Religion & Spirituality
The Will to Meaning collects lectures that Viktor E. Frankl, the Viennese psychiatrist who founded logotherapy, gave at Southern Methodist University's Perkins School of Theology. First published in 1969, it appears here in a 1988 Meridian edition. Frankl sets out three basic concepts: freedom of will, the will to meaning and the meaning of life. Contrasting these with Freud's will to pleasure and Adler's will to power, he turns to clinical uses, including noogenic neuroses rooted in existential frustration and paradoxical intention.
