Them: Adventures with Extremists
By Jon Ronson
Categories: Politics & Social Sciences
In Them (2001), journalist Jon Ronson spends time with extremists of many kinds, including Islamist radicals, Ku Klux Klan leaders and conspiracy theorists. Many of them share a belief that a small secret elite rules the world. Ronson's deadpan, often comic reporting tests how much truth lies behind their fears. His search takes him to the Bilderberg Group's meeting and the Bohemian Grove, and he finds himself followed by men in dark glasses along the way.

- Edgar Wright: “'Them: Adventures With Extremists' by @jonronson is 20 this year. I'm not sure there's been a non-fiction book that was more of an ominous bellwether of what was to come... Required reading then, and shockingly ahead of its time, now.”
