This House of Grief (2014) is Helen Garner's account of the trial of Robert Farquharson, an Australian man accused of murdering his three sons. In 2005 Farquharson drove his car into a dam in rural Victoria, and his sons drowned; he said he had blacked out. Garner followed his trials over seven years, describing the evidence, the witnesses and the families, and her own struggle to understand what happened and how the courts reach judgments.
