Thuvia, Maid of Mars
Categories: Science Fiction & Fantasy
Carthoris, the son of John Carter, takes the lead in Thuvia, Maid of Mars (1920), the fourth Barsoom novel. He loves Thuvia of Ptarth, a princess already promised to another man. When Thuvia is kidnapped and Carthoris is blamed, he follows her trail to the ancient city of Lothar, whose few surviving inhabitants can conjure armies of phantom bowmen out of thought alone. Rival princes and a threatened war complicate his rescue.
