'Tis: A Memoir
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs
'Tis (1999) is Frank McCourt's second memoir, the sequel to Angela's Ashes. It opens in 1949 as the nineteen-year-old McCourt arrives in New York from Limerick, Ireland, and follows his low-paid jobs, army service in Germany and studies at New York University under the G.I. Bill, despite never having finished high school. It ends with his first years teaching in New York public schools, told in his plain, wry voice.
