Tyrell is the 2006 debut young adult novel by Coe Booth, published by Scholastic's PUSH imprint and set in the Bronx. It won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for young adult fiction. Fifteen-year-old Tyrell, whose father is in prison, is living with his mother and little brother Troy in a roach-infested shelter motel. Refusing to sell drugs, he plans a secret paid dance party with his father's DJ equipment to get them a home, while torn between Novisha and Jasmine.

- John Green: “Speaking of which, Kendra by Coe Booth. Her first book Tyrell is more famous, I like this one just as much.”
