Undaunted Valor: Lam Son 719, the third book in Matt Jackson's series, recounts the 1971 operation in which U.S. Army and Marine Corps helicopters flew South Vietnamese troops into Laos to cut the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Lieutenant Dan Cory and three other crews join the 223rd Assault Helicopter Battalion for the battle. Jackson, who flew two combat tours in Vietnam, portrays crews of mostly teenagers and young officers flying under heavy fire, and the battle's lasting effect on Army aviation.
