Underworld is a 1997 novel by Don DeLillo, author of White Noise. It was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and is often named among the best American novels of its era. It opens with the 1951 baseball game between the Giants and Dodgers decided by Bobby Thomson's home run, the same day the Soviet Union tests an atomic bomb.
