While Time Remains (2023) by Yeonmi Park, who escaped North Korea as a teenager, describes what she found after settling in the United States. Park welcomes the freedom she found in America but argues that campus speech codes, identity politics and cancel culture echo the indoctrination she grew up with. Drawing on her studies at Columbia and her own experiences, she urges Americans to defend free expression and take responsibility for their communities.
