Who the Hell's in It: Conversations with Hollywood's Legendary Actors
Categories: Arts & Photography, Biographies & Memoirs
In Who the Hell's in It (2004), director and critic Peter Bogdanovich collects decades of interviews and essays on actors he knew and admired, from Lillian Gish and James Cagney to Marilyn Monroe, James Stewart and River Phoenix. The portraits mix film history, talk about craft and personal anecdote. Many of them come from Bogdanovich's own work with or friendships with his subjects, giving the book the feel of an insider's tour of Hollywood across most of the twentieth century.
