Work Rules!
By Laszlo Bock
Categories: Business & Money
Laszlo Bock, who led People Operations at Google, describes how the company hires, develops and keeps its people, and what any organization can learn from its approach. Bock argues that work need not be demotivating. His lessons include hiring only people who are better than you, taking power away from managers, paying unequally for unequal performance, using data rather than gut instinct and defaulting to openness. He draws on behavioral economics and on examples from companies of all sizes.

- Brian Armstrong: “Many of these ideas come from Laszlo Bock’s book, Work Rules (Laszlo was the former head of HR at Google) and the Netflix culture deck. I’d recommend reading both.”
