Zombie
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Zombie is a 1995 novel by Joyce Carol Oates, the prolific author of We Were the Mulvaneys and Blonde. It won the Bram Stoker Award for best novel. Told in the first person by Quentin P., a young man in Michigan on probation for sexual assault, it records his plans to create a zombie, a mindless and obedient companion, through crude lobotomies. Loosely inspired by the case of Jeffrey Dahmer, it is a disturbing, intimate look inside the mind of a killer.
