Frankenstein
By Mary Shelley
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist, discovers how to give life to dead matter and builds a creature, only to abandon it in horror the moment it wakes. The creature, intelligent and articulate, is rejected wherever it goes and turns its anguish against its maker. Mary Shelley conceived the novel in 1816 during a summer near Geneva with Lord Byron and John Polidori, and it first appeared in 1818. It explores creation, responsibility and the need for acceptance.

- Seth Godin: “When she wrote Frankenstein, it changed everything. A different style of writing. A different kind of writer. And the use of technology in ways that no one expected and that left a mark.”
