Bill McKibben argues that power from the sun and wind, the cheapest energy on the planet, offers a real chance to escape the climate crisis if adoption keeps accelerating. He points to Pakistanis who installed solar panels equal to a third of their national grid in a single year, and to California's sharp cut in natural gas use. Because sunlight cannot be hoarded, he sees a chance to reorder the world more fairly.
