Charlie Huston's fifth and final Joe Pitt novel finds the Vampyre a marked man, hiding for a year in Manhattan's subway tunnels and sewers while a civil war among the Clans threatens to expose them all. What draws him back to the surface is a request from his former girlfriend, Evie: find a missing young woman whose unborn child might hold the destiny of Vampyre-kind. Joe sets out to confront the evil at the core of his world.

• Seth Godin: “Charlie Huston used one of his books (no longer free) to get me hooked on the rest of the series. Get one free, buy three. Backwards but effective.”
